Resources for Private Practice

It all begins with a dream.

When I first started my private practice I had absolutely no idea where to start! What electronic health record do I use? How do I bill for my services? Where to advertise? An endless sea of questions. I had to slowly gather resources, talking with the wonderfully resourceful therapists who had started before me and it definitely took some time!

Are you unsure of where to start in building your private practice?

Here is a list of free resources that helped me get on my feet in building my practice.

Where to Advertise

Psychology Today has been an amazing referral resource for building my practice, especially when I was just starting and trying to get my name out there. It is only $29.99 per month which more than pays for itself. If you want to give it a try and get 6 months free, click on the link below and I will send you an invite! Psychology Today is also great for ARNP’s and psychiatrists!

EHR’s

Simple Practice is the EHR I use and so far it has been great! I can do all of my telehealth appointments on the app, bill insurance and clients, securely store clinical notes, track my income and my clients have access to a secure client portal. It has been a huge time saver.

Simple practice isn’t just for therapists, but anyone in the health and wellness profession! If you sign up by clicking on the link below, you will receive a $200 account credit towards a future bill, woohoo!

Insurance:

Preferra Insurance Company RGR

If you happen to be a social worker also, I would strongly recommend Preferra Insurance Company RGR for the best pricing. You do have to be an active NASW member to receive a discount but honestly, when I compared prices it was so much more affordable to go through this company. Click on the link below to get a quote.

If you are not a social worker, I would encourage you to check with your license specific professional organizations to see if they have a company who offers an equally excellent discount.

Business Bank Account:

Chase Bank

There are a ton of options out there when it comes to opening your business checking and savings accounts. Personally, I have found Chase to be awesome to work with and with my business checking account I was able to get a $500 bonus! That was $500 extra dollars to put towards my business start up. Their promotions are constantly changing, so I can’t guarantee that offer still exists, but you can click on the link below to see what current offers may be available for you if you are interested in opening a checking account for your business to get your finances in order from the start.
